Remnants to pajama pants

All 6 of my children have requested pajama pants, well the 5 who speak have, technically.  I made some for Mr. Monk first and true to my nature made MANY mistakes.  I'm sorry to confess to you that his pants are already falling apart.  He is rather hard on clothes and he hasn't taken these pants off since I made them, but I was hasty and am paying for it now.  I finally understand the old aphorism "a stitch in time saves nine".  So last night it was back to the drawing board for pajama pants.  I bought a remnant piece at JoAnn for less than $3 and decided to use it for practice.  This time I reinforced every. single. seam.  Hopefully Calvin's remnant pj pants will hold up a little better than his brother's.  I think I'm ready to move on.

Oh- and I made FOUR skirts yesterday before getting to these pants.  Let's just say it was a long day.  And tonight- I'm not making anything.  We spent 2 hours on the road this morning early then 6 hours in a HOT crowded pool for a swim meet then 2 more hours on the road.  (I just have to insert here that they swam so fast that it was well worth it.)  I'm beat and going to bed after I read my older kids one more chapter of Master Puppeteer.  We're loving that book so much.

  1. For someone who didn't like sewing back in December, you have come a LONG way. I am proud of you that you persevered and did not give up, but gave it another try! Good work:) You are inspiring me. Just Friday, I repurposed a shirt into a skirt, a shirt into leggings, and made fleece pajama pants complete with a name down the side and a fleece hat for a birthday gift.

I'm an on-the-run mom to 6 kids who studied and taught exercise science in a previous life. I love all things running, nutrition, and health-related. I usually run at zero dark thirty in the morning and am often quite hungry before, during, and after my run, but I live a rich, full, blessed life with my children, family, and friends. My faith in God is my anchor, and looking to Him and His promises allows me to live fully even when life circumstances are difficult. While running gives me an appetite, my desire is to hunger and thirst for righteousness more than for physical food.
