Adapted homeschool: Knitting keeps hands busy!

Our homeschool has had a few gaps in it since Calvin's arrival has kept me a little preoccupied.  One of the ways Twinkle Toes (9) and Mealse (7) have filled some of their spare time is with knitting.  Their grandma gave them knitting lessons last summer and our housekeeper has been helping them when she's here, too.  Once they seemed to be getting the hang of it, Grandma bought them fancy yarn so they could make winter scarves.  The girls are very proud of their progress and are hoping to finish up their scarves before the first snowfall.

What do you think?  I'm impressed!  I never learned to knit... or crochet... or sew... or do anything crafty!  Debbie from A Journey in Motherhood and her kids came over Saturday and her daughter showed the girls how to finger-crochet.  They've been busy making necklaces and bracelets in every color this week.  It's so nice that my blog friend and her family have moved here and become our friends in real life!  What a blessing!

  1. Thank you, Celee! We all had such a fun time on Saturday. It is also nice to have friends like you in the same town.

The finger knitting thing was new to me. Kara just showed me a couple of days ago her new found craft while making Emily a necklace. It's kinda funny how some crafty kids just teach themselves.

I'm an on-the-run mom to 6 kids who studied and taught exercise science in a previous life. I love all things running, nutrition, and health-related. I usually run at zero dark thirty in the morning and am often quite hungry before, during, and after my run, but I live a rich, full, blessed life with my children, family, and friends. My faith in God is my anchor, and looking to Him and His promises allows me to live fully even when life circumstances are difficult. While running gives me an appetite, my desire is to hunger and thirst for righteousness more than for physical food.
