The Sky is Falling, The Sky is Falling

Always one to encourage sibling togetherness, I heartily agreed when Twinkle Toes and Measle asked if they could sleep together in Measle's bottom bunk. I almost snapped a picture of them so cute and cozy with Twinkle Toe's head at one end and Measle's at the other. We talk a lot at our house about how much space we have compared to previous generations. We have a friend in our church who was one of 20 kids and they lived in a two room house throughout her childhood. ALL the kids shared a room. In fact, ALL the kids shared a bed. She's quick to point out that only 8-10 of them were ever living at home at the same time, so that's not really so crowded, is it? Anyway, so the girls were just itching to try it out and I gave them the go ahead. There was lots of giggling which I had to shush several times, then quiet for about 5 minutes, then a loud crash followed by screaming. Once I made sure everyone was ok, I ran for my camera. The top bunk actually fell on them and miraculously neither of them was injured!

So this morning when we read Psalm 1 at breakfast, it was with an extra grateful heart! Although totally undeserving, we are surely blessed!

"Blessed is the man who walks not in the counself of the ungodly, nor stands in the paths of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper."

Psalm 1:1-3

  1. Hello-
I found your blog from the Quiverfull digest. We have 5 children so far! I love this about sibling togetherness! that is where our heart is too! We have boys room and a girls room! every one says our kids "need" their own rooms, but they do not see the beauty of an older child reading to the youngers. they do not hear the "night time giggles". GREAT POST.

    ps- our blog is

I'm an on-the-run mom to 6 kids who studied and taught exercise science in a previous life. I love all things running, nutrition, and health-related. I usually run at zero dark thirty in the morning and am often quite hungry before, during, and after my run, but I live a rich, full, blessed life with my children, family, and friends. My faith in God is my anchor, and looking to Him and His promises allows me to live fully even when life circumstances are difficult. While running gives me an appetite, my desire is to hunger and thirst for righteousness more than for physical food.
